Florida Storytelling Association (FSA)

    This statewide organization sponsors a Thursday-Sunday Storytelling Camp each spring, with national and regional tellers and workshop leaders and participants from all over the United States. This site will also lead you to local storytelling groups in Florida.

National Storytelling Network (NSN)

    This is the major storytellers group in the USA (formerly called NAPPS and NSA), headquartered in Jonesborough, Tennessee. The site includes: a directory of storytellers, organizations and events; information about NSN and its sister organization, the Storytelling Foundation International (SFI); a catalog of NSN publications; information about the annual National Storytelling Festival, National Storytelling Conference and Tellabration; a calendar of storytelling events; an online discussion group for members; membership information; and a fantastic list of storytelling links.

    Storyteller and author Heather Forest's site has great ideas on ways to incorporate story in the curriculum, including lesson plans and activities, shows how to meet educational standards of New York state schools, links to sites with lesson plans, bibliographies, library of short folktales and fables for retelling by students.

    Website of storyteller Dianne de Las Casas includes story activities, a library of books, articles, publishers and organizations, extensive storytelling links.

    Storyteller, author and coach Doug Lipman has an online library of articles about all aspects of storytelling, plus links to other storytelling resources.

Story Power

    Storyteller and educator Marni Gillard's site. Her collection of articles about storytelling contains a number of ideas for teachers, along with a list in answer to the question "Why Storytelling?" Includes an excerpt from her book Storyteller, Storyteacher.

    Join (at no charge) a community of 400 lovers of story, but be prepared to receive up to 80 e-mails a day from this active, talkative bunch of tellers and lovers of story. A great way to become totally immersed in story, with a very supportive group of colleagues.

Storytelling at East Tennessee State University

    ETSU has a master's program in storytelling, sponsors the National Storytelling Youth Olympics, the annual Storytelling World Resource Awards (online lists of current and past award recipients constitute a great bibliography of resources). Site has links to more online resources.

    Online home of the National Storytelling Center in Jonesborough, Tennessee. Information about the Center, the National Storytelling Festival, and the application of storytelling in the business community (extensive bibliography).

Tellabration! A Worldwide Storytelling Event
